The most storied franchise in minor league hockey calls the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania home. The Hershey Bears, winners of an AHL-record 13 Calder Cups, are the longest continuously operating team in the league and the only one still playing in its original city since 1938. After clinching back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024, the Bears looked to upgrade their training and locker room spaces. Abacus Sports Installations was trusted to bring their vision to life.
Two custom inlaid Regupol Crash platforms anchor the space, providing reliable drop zones for heavy powerlifts. Each displays the Hershey Bears logo in a bold 95% Grizzly Brown colorway for a clean, integrated look.
The Regupol Crash system consists of Regupol’s proprietary formulation to withstand the rigors and abuse of heavy impacts in the weight room. In a busy Giant Center, this will reduce noise and protect subfloors to ensure athlete safety and comfort.
The Bears’ 1,355 square foot weight room was completed in July 2024 with high-performance materials. The space is split near evenly between 18mm Regupol AktivPro Roll rubber flooring and 675 square feet of indoor training turf, creating a balanced environment for strength and movement work. This 1-inch-thick system delivers the shock absorption and durability needed to protect athletes and equipment alike, while giving Washington Capitals prospects a safe and professional training space.
Just a month later, Abacus returned to revamp the team’s home locker room. The new space now features 31 phenolic IMPACT Team Lockers with premium textured finishes, ventilated foot lockers, and the durability needed for a 72-game season. In addition to the training and locker areas, roughly 2,000 more square feet of Regupol Aktiv rubber was installed throughout the Giant Center, including arena walkways and auxiliary locker room spaces.
