Nestled in Glenside, PA, just outside Philadelphia, Arcadia University is a thriving private institution with a growing campus that serves approximately 3,200 students. To expand its athletic and recreational offerings, the university turned to Abacus Sports, who helped bring the Arcadia Knights’ vision to life.
Located near the Church Road entrance and adjacent to the tennis courts, the newly completed Multi-Purpose Center (MPC) opened its doors in September 2024. Spanning approximately 13,000 square feet, the MPC offers a vibrant space designed for athletics, recreation, and extracurricular activities.
This new facility highlights Arcadia University’s dedication to enriching campus life by fostering physical well-being, teamwork, and community engagement. Recreational and athletic opportunities are pivotal to student development, providing balance to academic pursuits while building camaraderie and school spirit.
The centerpiece of this facility is a 9,000+ square-foot Robbins Bio-Channel Star hardwood gymnasium, expertly installed by Abacus Sports during the summer of 2024. This advanced flooring system delivers a premium playing surface that meets the diverse needs of Arcadia’s campus, from student recreation and intramural competitions to intercollegiate athletics.
Robbins Bio-Channel Star hardwood is engineered for top-tier performance and safety:
• Shock Absorption & Ball Response: A continuous resilient pad and vibration-damping subfloor ensure consistent comfort and performance, enhancing player safety and playability.
• Structural Durability: The anchored subfloor design supports heavy loads while allowing lateral movement to maintain the court’s integrity over time.
