William Penn Senior High School, the sole high school operated by the School District of the City of York, serves as a hub for education and athletics in York, Pennsylvania. When the school sought to upgrade its weight room to enhance training, conditioning, and educational opportunities for its students, they partnered with Abacus Sports to bring their vision to life.
To maximize functionality, the facility also features six inlaid platforms, enabling more Bearcat athletes to train simultaneously and achieve their fitness goals efficiently. Additionally, the new gym includes over 1,500 square feet of indoor training turf, a versatile, low-maintenance surface ideal for a wide range of athletic activities. This indoor turf allows students to complete full workouts year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Abacus Sports delivered a cutting-edge weight room that rivals the best facilities in Pennsylvania for high schools. The new space holds over 3,700 square feet of Regupol 12mm (1/2”) AktivPlus rubber flooring, a cost-effective solution engineered for the demands of performance training. This flooring, 25% thicker than Regupol Aktiv, offers superior durability and shock absorption, ensuring the space can handle years of intense use.
Since its opening in September 2024, the new weight room has been empowering Bearcat athletes with the resources they need to achieve peak performance. Abacus Sports is honored to contribute to the strength and leadership development of William Penn students, supporting their journey toward athletic and personal success.
